WCB Painted Fantasy Themed Humanoid Monster Miniatures

Mini: D&D Miniature (DDM) -
Mountain Troll (modified)
One of the things I would have done differently when I made this mod is I would have planned the mini better so that the leg hanging out of the bag was dragging on the ground by the troll's foot instead of hanging in thin air. Other than that I am happy with the results. I'd like to eventually try this mod again now that I know what I am doing with it. This was also my first attempt at creating snow out of glue, water and baking soda. I rather like the effect and can't wait to try it out on another winter mini. I have a how-to write up on how I made the
parts for the troll and a short write-up on
making the snow for the base.

Mini: Reaper Warlord - Kiakara, Reven Warlord (modified)
This was the mini my wife was using for a while for her Orc Barbarian PC. When we got the mini it had a silly (imho) pick-type weapon which she did not want. Her character used a greatsword. At the time, this sword (from a Reaper Dark Heaven Legends - Weapons Pack II) was the best I had for a mod so I used it. Eventually I would like to get a better weapon, since this one glaringly does not fit the mini very well. One other note was that we had a HUGE discussion over the mini's outfit which consisted of the stereotypical standard female skimpy armor and thong bottom. Personally I thought that an orc with a thong (or 'butt-floss' as my wife termed it) was hilarious, but she had the final say and I wound up painting the mini with leather pants. It was quite funny discussing an orcish thong with the gaming group that night though...

Mini: D&D Miniature (DDM) - Orc Mauler (modified)
I originally was going to use this as one of my PCs (I've been messing with a few orc PC templates for a while now) but wound up using another mini instead. Still though, it never hurts to have lots of orc minis lying around. The weapon came from a random bits box that was given to me a little while back by a friend of mine (Games Workshop perhaps?). I have no idea what mini it was that it came off of. It came from a bunch of broken bits. The shield is from the Warhammer Tomb Kings Skeleton Regiment box set.

Mini: Reaper Dark Heaven Legends - Boris, Evil Fighter
I picked this mini up simply because I liked the 'heavy' look of it. I was, at the time, looking for a good plate-mail wearing miniature for a fighter. I painted him initially as a half-orc, but later decided that he looked more like a full-blooded orc due to the dark green color his skin wound up being. I suppose that he can be either, but I like to think of him as an orcish champion, or perhaps an anti-paladin of Gruumsh.

Mini: D&D Miniature (DDM) -
Redspawn Arcaniss (modified)
I painted this mini for one of the Uncommon Painting Challenges over on the
Hordelings website. I made a few mistakes on the metal studs on it's armor in my haste to complete the project. Also, for some reason the clear matte sealer gave part of the mini a 'dusty' look. The spear is a weapon swap with a Warhammer
Tomb Kings Skeleton Regiment box set spear.

Mini: D&D Miniature (DDM) - Werebear (modified)
After completing the Dire Panda I repainted I came across this mini and decided to try painting it as a Werepanda. The weapon was created using a wood dowel, ProCreate putty and some thread. I wanted the weapon to look crudely made (some due to me being a noob at sculpting, but also because I wanted it to look druidic or tribal in nature). Thus I decided that the haft should be made of bamboo. I used the Chinese pudao polearm as my model. I am happy with the bamboo part, but the blade didn't turn out as great as I had wanted. This mini has another first too. My first use of static grass. That turned out easier to use than I had anticipated, although it still doesn't look quite right to me. I'm looking forward to experimenting more with it though.

Mini: D&D Miniature (DDM) - Bugbear Headreaver (modified)
This mini is my entry for the June Uncommon Painting Challengs over on the Hordelings website. I am fairly happy with the results, though I apparently did not clean the mini well enough as I'm having problems with small areas of paint that seem to want to rub off easily on the right leg and the firepot.

Mini: D&D Miniature (DDM) -
Goblin Runner (modified)
This is another of the minis I was painting for the Against the Giants common painting challenge over on
Hordelings. I removed the goblin's spear and gave him a (slightly oversized..at least for a goblin) sword strapped to his back. He looks almost more like a Goblin Champion now to me. The sword came from another DDM miniature,
Aasimar Fighter, from the War of the Dragon Queen set.

Mini: D&D Miniature (DDM) - Gnoll Marauder (modified)
This mini was started for one of the Hordelings Uncommon Painting Challenges (UPC) but I never got it finished in time to submit it. Well, I finally got around to getting it done! I like the result. This mini had some good detail to begin with, and the addition of the spiked mace (from a Warhammer Beastmen Regiment box set) was a great addition.
